Preliminary Results 2011 H2 eGaming Dataset Now Available

Posted on 16/02/2012 in General News

After analysing all of the 2011'sector data, updating our regulatory database and incorporating the constant sector news flow H2 have published our latest eGaming sector dataset.

Now utilising 31 December 2011 constant exchange rates our provisional analysis demonstrates that the gross revenues (stakes, less prizes, but including bonuses) for global eGaming sector increased by 3.4% to reach €24.6bn in 2011. Bingo/other gaming and lotteries all saw a double digit increase in gross win. Poker gross revenue's fall of 18.6% following Black Friday diluted sector growth. The betting product vertical that accounted for 43% of the value of interactive gambling saw just under 5% growth (despite being the year following a soccer World Cup) and growth in casino continued to be strong at 8%.

Globally interactive gambling accounted for 8.6% of the total value of the global gambling industry in 2011. This was down from 9.1% in 2010 and a return to the 2009 level. Strong advances in a number of land based markets, such as Macau and Singapore, and the introduction of new products, such as the first full year of VLTs in Italy, coupled with the downside to the interactive market size as a result of Black Friday.

Europe continues to account for the largest single share of the global interactive market with 44% of the value being derived from the region in 2011. Going forward the European share is expected to stabilise or even fall as uncertain growth in the region's regulated markets; is countered by growth markets in Asia and Latin America. During 2011 14.4% of the European gambling sector's gross revenues were generated via interactive channels.
